To the outside world this forgotten of Bundi town is best known for the exquisite paintings of the Bundi school, widely considered the finest of all Rajasthan’s miniature painting movements. first develop under the patronage of the 17 century kings Ratan Singh, Chattar Sal and Bhao Singh. The traditional Bundi paintings focused on courtly themes which played out before an ever present backdrop of verdant greenery, reflecting the natural lushness with which nature hes blessed the city. Many of these traditions are still practiced today by Bundi’s artists, kept alive mainly by the tourist trade. Not much may have changed in Bundi for years, but with the town beginning to appear on the radar of Western budget travelers. For the moment, though, tourism is a big thing for the people of Bundi, precisely because it’s a small thing.
Getting there : Bundi lies 200 kilometers south of jaipur and 40 kilometers north of Kota in southeastern Rajasthan. There are direct bus service daily from Jaipur, Delhi and Kota which is the closest useful railway station.
